Details of Dr. Reckeweg Cantharis:

Dr. Reckeweg Cantharis is chiefly used in the treatment of frequent urination with burning in every part of the body both internal and external. Constant and intolerable urge to urinate before, during and after urination. Burning and cutting pain in urethra during urination. Only a few drops of urine pass at a time. It is also helpful in blood in urine. Vesicles all over the body which is sore to touch with burning pain and itching. When locally applied in tincture Cantharis is also useful in burns and scalds, prevents formation of blisters and helps speedy recovery.

Cantharis is useful in oversensitiveness of all parts or / and irritation, raw, burning pains. Cantharis vesicatoria can be considered in hemorrhages and puerperal convulsions. Intolerable, constant urging to urinate is most characteristic feature of cantharis vesicatoria. The gastric, hepatic and abdominal complaints that are aggravated by drinking coffee are seen in cantharis commonly. It is well indicated in gastric derangements of pregnancy. There is dysuria( difficult urination ), with other complaints. Cantharis also helps in conditions where there is an increases secretion of mucous membranes, tenacious mucus. The inflammations cantharis produces             ( bladder, kidneys, ovaries, menninges, pleuritic and pericardial membranes ) are usually associated with bladder irritation.  

Indications of  Dr. Reckeweg Cantharis:

Mind:

• Restlessness, fruitless, restless mind  
• Inner tension seeks an outlet through sexuality or aggression, discontented 
• Disposition to contradict  
• Anger and fear felt in stomach and extending to other parts  
• Fear of water, mirrors, shining object ( Stram ); death, Hydrophobia  
• Manicdepressive, rage with crying, barking, howling Frenzy Violence ( Stram )  
• Sudden stupor, unconsciousness, Aphasia    

Generalities:

• Burning pains, violent, cutting, biting  
• Violent inflammation, rapid and intense  
• Better by Lying, warmth, but skin is better by cold  
• Oversensitiveness of all parts    

Food and drinks:  

• Worse by coffee    

Head: 

• Burning pain, as from boiling water  
• Dandruff    

Eye:  

• Acute or chronic inflammation, esp after burns  
• Involuntary spasmodic motion of eye    

Ear:  

• Mastoiditis ( acute middle ear infection )
• Sensation of hot air    

Face:  

• Congestion with intense heat  
• Erysipelas, burning, biting heat
• Itching vesicles    

Mouth:  

• Burning ext to stomach  
• Red, covered with vesicles  
• Grinding teeth 
• Lockjaw   

Throat  

• Inflammation with excessive burning, worse drinking, better by lying  
• Unable to swallow liquids  
• Violent spasms when touching larynx    

Stomach:  

• Burning pains  
• Fear and restlessness felt in stomach  
• Sensitiveness over stomach: Convulsions from slight pressure    

Abdomen:  

• Peritonitis ( inflammation of abdominal membrane )
• Burning in whole gastrointestinal tract    

Rectum  

• Tenesmus ( painful urination ) 
• Diarrhea with burning pain  
• Bloody stool with mucus    

Urinary:  

• Cystitis / urethritis: violent burning pain 
• Violent tenesmus, intolerable urging, drops of urine, scalding, with genital excitement, erection, with restlessness,  dances around the room in agony, screams from pain, urging, sitting better by walking aggravates, pain aggravates drinking  
• Nephritis: Pain in the back, sensitive to touch; colic    

Male genitalia:  

• Violent sexual desire ; disturbing sleep    

Female genitalia: 

• Strong sexual desire, sometimes not better by coition  
• Pruritis ( itching genitals ) with high sexual desire, worse climacteric  
• Menses too frequent, too profuse dark blood  
• Black swelling of vulva  
• Burning in ovaries; very sensitive to touch, worse during menses  
• Retained placenta with painful urination    

Respiratory:  

• Tenacious mucus in airpassages  
• Short dry cough in spells    

Chest:  

• Soreness of mammae / breasts with menses  
• Pneumonia, pleurisy, worse on right; with burning pains    

Back:  

• Tetanic spasms, compelling to bend forward or backward  
• Opisthotonos ( spasm of the muscles causing backward arching of the head, neck, and spine ) 
• Emprosthotonos ( contraction of the flexor muscles, curving the back with concavity forward ) 

Extremities:

• Burning in soles of feet at night  
• Eczema of back of hand and between fingers: burning, itching vesicles    

Skin:

• Burns and scalds
• Erysipelas, vesicular eruptions  
• Eruptions with tremendous burning, worse by touch.
